Elijah “Eli” Thompson, a respected entrepreneur and mentor, passed away suddenly on February 8, 2025, at the age of 44. His passing leaves a deep void in the lives of his family, friends, and the countless young professionals he guided.
Born and raised in Chicago, Eli was a visionary who built his own financial consulting firm from the ground up. Despite facing challenges growing up in an underserved community, he remained determined to break barriers, graduating from Howard University with honors before launching Thompson & Co., a firm dedicated to helping Black-owned businesses thrive.
Eli was more than just a businessman—he was a mentor, coach, and community leader. He established programs that provided financial literacy education to young adults and was an active speaker at events aimed at empowering the next generation. He believed that success was meant to be shared, and he poured his time into lifting others.
Eli was a devoted father to his twin daughters, Naomi and Nia, whom he adored beyond measure. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Thompson; his sister, Monique; and a large extended family. His memorial service will be held on February 15 at New Hope Baptist Church in Chicago. In honor of his legacy, the family asks that donations be made to the Elijah Thompson Business Grant for Black Entrepreneurs.
